Faith-based medical ministries have substantial opportunities to improve healthcare through biomedical research. Success typically requires collaboration between national, organizational, and expert stakeholders. In this session practical aspects of developing a collaborative research program will be discussed.

Objectives

1) Describe how to identify an appropriate research topic and form successful collaborations.
2) Discuss how to start an ethics committee or work with an existing institutional review board.
3) Describe the impact of research on hospital staff, patients, and the local community.
